Fashion Must Have: The Fedora

By Petunia
My new favorite accessory is the straw fedora! My brothers have been rocking this look for some time, but I only recently acquired my own (complete with flower accents). A trip to the playground on a sunny day is not complete with my lovely, purple-banded fedora.

Our New House

By Earl
We bought a house! No, not a real house. Ms. Mommy has been on the hunt for a larger playhouse for us because she is, and I quote, "Gettin' real tired of all the pushing and screaming" that happens when all three of us kids try to play in the little playhouse our neighbor gave us a few years back. Old house:

Charming, truly, but it fit the three of us much better before Petunia and I turned two. So, as I was saying, Ms. Mommy had been on the hunt for a newer, larger playhouse for some time. She scoured Craigslist with a vigilance that bordered on obsession, until one day she found this magnificent house. It's the Step2 Welcome Home Playhouse, and is the largest one they make. It retails for something totally insane like more than half a grand. Fortunately for us, this one's owners were asking just $175 because it's several years old and missing a skylight, porch, and some hardware. Ms. Mommy was ALL OVER IT! Also fortunately for us, Mr. Daddy was able to talk them down a bit, since he had to rent a U-Haul truck to drive over and pick this up. It was too large to fit in either of our family vehicles, even in pieces!

Ta-dah! Isn't it majestic? Wait, no, that photo doesn't even do it justice because there wasn't room for Ms. Mommy to stand far enough back on the porch for a wide-angle shot. Here, check out this stock image from Step2's own website:
Whaaaaat?! That's crazy, isn't it! We can all fit inside without bumping into one another! Ms. Mommy called Step2, and they're going to send us a new skylight, and she also rummaged around in her toolbox until she found some hardware that would hold the pieces together. The previous owner had been using the playhouse without any screws or bolts in it, and though they said it never fell on anyone, Ms. Mommy likes to take precautions. We love our new playhouse, and it should suit our needs for years to come!

P.S. Ms. Mommy said the trade-off was selling our tiny toddler slide on Craigslist. She's still trying to get rid of our little Garden Activity Center (seen in the above photo).

A Stylish New Do

By Petunia
This weekend Earl experienced his first major haircut. He'd had a few trims before, but that was just a little off the sides. Earl has never been a fan of the scissors. He sees Ms. Mommy coming with them in her hand and just flips out. Perhaps because he's seen photos of Hank's old Mommy haircuts. Ms. Mommy loved the baby-fine softness of Earl's hair, so while she was happy to see the faux-bowl cut go, she was also a bit sad and anxious when Daddy took the clippers to Earl's head.

Who even is that guy? I do think Earl has a new swagger in his step to go with his new 'do.  What do YOU think of his haircut?

Taking the Mustache Fad Too Far

By Earl
Back when we were born, we weren't too into fads.  In fact, Ms. Mommy once vowed that we would always maintain the simple, classical styles of early childhood.  Well, guess what? We're two and a half now and Petunia's decided to throw all that out the window.

The mustache fad has literally been around my entire life and I declare it has gone on too long! At first it was funny (but then again, so were baby rattles and teething toys).

Unlike me, Petunia has become entranced by the latest fashion.  So much that she decided to create her own mustache from dirt and chalk found in our garage.

Dear Lord, Help me!  This fad has gone too far!

Spring Fashions

By Petunia
Spring has finally come to our little corner of the world! Yay! On top of it being gorgeous outside - it is a perfectly legitimate excuse to dress up in pretty pretty princess dresses!

I'm absolutely in love with my beautiful purple dress from Sears.  I thought that pairing it with the pink pants would be a nice way to bring in both my favorite colors!
Ms. Mommy is wearing the Alice dress and Auntie Amelia has on the Golden Afternoon dress from Shabby Apple.  Soft lace and pastels are the perfect palette for spring!
We hope that spring has come (or will be coming) to your corner soon!  As for me, I intend to enjoy these few days before the rain comes again.
