Outfit of the Week

By Petunia
Confession: I'm not that into walking.  It's not that I can't do it - it's just that hopping along on my knees is easier, faster, and (let's face it) more adorable.  Lately, Ms. Mommy has taken to making me walk all the time and is even threatening me with ugly "supportive" shoes. As if!

Here's an idea...what about adorable sparkle shoes!? Did you see they're Toms?! Love. It.

What Ms. Mommy Wore This Weekend

By Earl

Something momentous happened this weekend: I learned how to climb out of my crib. You guys! You have no idea how awesome it is not being confined by wooden bars anymore when Ms. Mommy and Mr. Daddy put me down for a "nap". They've wisely decided to convert my old crib into a swanky new toddler bed. Let me tell you, my sister, Petunia is jealous! It's okay though. During my first nap of freedom I climbed into Petunia's crib to keep her company (and set her toys free- I did not steal them and throw them out of the crib, as she may claim).
Ahem. Despite all this, Ms. Mommy and two of my wonderful aunties managed to put themselves together and go out shoe shopping. Doesn't Ms. Mommy look fabulous here? She really seems to like wearing this new skirt she ordered from DownEast Basics. It has pockets!

Happiness is Homemade

By Petunia

Today's look is totally vintage boutique.  At least, you'd think it was if you didn't know it was 100% handmade by Ms. Mommy!  Now, I can't sew, so this DIY might be a bit off...but I thought it'd be nice for you to get to make this too.

Step 1: Buy some fabric (or ask Grandma to do it for you, like me)
Step 2: Trace an outline of your favorite dress in two parts, the bodice and skirt- adding a seam allowance, plus six inches to the skirt for gathering.
Step 3: Cut it out twice and sew it together. Add straps.

Okay, so maybe I was napping while Ms. Mommy did most of that, but it will be a good starting point for your own DIY.
As you can tell, I'm still learning my angles.  And Ms. Mommy's photography skills are no Nigel Barker's...
C'mon...you know Ms. Mommy and me just inspired you!

Outfit of the Week

By Earl
Let's just start by being totally honest - I have never been to Seattle.  Nor do I have any relatives in the Seattle area who could justifiably send me this shirt.  Which is not to say that I don't love this awesome shirt from PigeonCameraDesigns anyways.  In fact, the only thing I know about Seattle is that it rains there more than it does here.  That's good enough for me.  Speaking of which, we've had lovely weather here lately (in case this post couldn't get any more boring and generic, yes, I am going off about the weather).  I just can't help myself - I love this overshirt from GapKids!  It completely meets my need for practicality and tops it off with a dash of preppy classic.  Perfect for those spring days (y'know, the one's where it's not raining).

Fashion Icons: Ms. Mommy

By Petunia
Happy Belated Mother's Day! Would you believe that less than two years ago, Ms. Mommy was carrying around the 15 lbs of us two babies?!  Yes, we were very healthy babies and Ms. Mommy suffered through it with us.  Now she is our totally gorgeous and stylish fashion icon!  Today Ms. Mommy is taking a tiny break from housework to share with us some of her fashion tips.
Ms. Mommy holding a beach ball exactly 2 weeks before we were born.

Ms. Mommy, how would you describe your personal fashion style?
Classic-casual. Right now I'm really digging the cool, retro vibe of these Shabby Apple dresses. They're comfortable, stylish, and all you have to do is add a fun belt, hat, or other accessories for a pop of color.

What are your favorite current fashion trends?
Vintage Americana! I can't tell you how much I am loving the plaids, tablecloth checks, and even the cat's eye sunglasses. Oh yes, and big hats. I am very much a hat person.

Where do you draw inspiration for your favorite fashion styles?
Well, I am quite busy with my three tiny children, so when I'm looking for something fun and new to wear I go straight to my favorite clothing retailers: ModCloth, Shabby Apple, and DownEast Basics. I also rely heavily on my sisters, particularly Auntie Amelia, to keep me from getting so lazy with my clothing that I wind up look "frumpy".

What advice would you give to other busy mommy's on getting dressed for the day?
Don't think about it too much. Stick with the basics. You may feel like wearing a lot of accessories, but if you're going to be hanging out with infants or toddlers all day, you'll quickly realize that anything dangly or shiny will become lost or broken within hours.

Holy Fat Babies, look at these fabulous photos of Ms. Mommy.  Did you see this Mr. Daddy?  Because Ms. Mommy told me you should.

Outfit of the Week

By Earl
As you know, we are humongous nerd babies. What you might not know is that we were born this way.  Yes, I was in fact named after a Science Fiction book character.  And he did have a clone.  Which leads me to positively adore this shirt from VicariousClothing on Etsy.  Edgy and completely geeked-out, yet it still maintains the dignity of classic style.  Match a catchy phase with a driving hat and pop of retro-styled red kicks and you're the snazziest baby in the cul-de-sac.

Friday Flashback

By Earl
Today we flashback to a time, about ten months ago, when I tried my first solid food.  Thankfully, Auntie Amelia had the foresight to know I would want to coordinate my outfit with my meal.  Or did I?

Outfit of the Week

By Earl
Everyone has a fantasy.  Some are simple - Ms. Mommy wants to drink a cup of coffee in the morning without any of us demanding her attention.  Some are ridiculous - Auntie Amelia wants to see the Beatles in concert circa 1963.  Some are virtually impossible - Mine is to choose Hank's clothes for him.  For any of you who have ever tried to tell a stubborn three year old what to wear, you'll know where I'm coming from.  Try doing it without being able to talk and having to resort to merely throwing the clothes within reach at him.  Impossible!

If dreams came true, here is the first thing I would pick out for Hank.  I'm not being too overly ambitious, it's quite his style.  Well, it would be if his style ever branched out beyond sweatpants.  I'm loving the bright color pops.  Tea Collection has a great selection of graphic tees that are fun by still stylish.  The overshirt by Gap has great embroidery that keeps with the fun jungle vibe and really brings out the color pops. Sigh.  Someday Hank will thank me for this.

GG Original Outfit

By Petunia

I may have said this before, but I'm pretty adored around here.  This is just one example of one of my favorite homemade outfits.  GG (that's Great Grandma for all you hip babe-sters!) created this adorable floral goose appliqued onesie for me.  I love the classic fabric and vintage shape she used.  Stylish yet completely original.
